He Simile or comparison Is a rhetorical figure that is used to establish a similarity relation between two elements. The two elements are present in the sentence; However, one is real (present at the moment of enunciation) while the other is figurative (imagined during enunciation).
For example: His hair is as yellow as gold. In this case, the elements to compare are hair and gold. Hair is the real element while gold is the figurative element.
On the other hand, the simile is characterized by the presence of a nexus, which is about the word (or words) that establish relationship between the two elements.
The links are usually: how, what, so, etc. The presence of this nexus differentiates the similes from the metaphors (which are comparisons, but without linking words).
