Arion, the fabulous horse with black hooves
Nowadays, Poseidon He would be persecuted, tried and imprisoned just like a serial rapist. However, Greek mythology seems to be governed by parameters very different from those we believe today and we know are the correct ones. The god of the sea did not hesitate to attack, abduct and violate as many women crossed his path. We already saw what happened with Jellyfish, raped by Poseidon and whose execrable act the Pegasus horse was born when Perseus cut off the gorgon's head. In this case, it was his own sister, Demeter the one that had to suffer the attack of the Greek god of the sea. Let's know the myth of the birth of Arion.
Poseidon , the god of the sea, wanted to conquer his sister Demeter, but she did not pay any attention to him, since she was worried looking for her daughter Persephone who had been abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld. As Poseidon did not cease in his pursuit, Demeter decided to become a mare to try to confuse him. However, Poseidon witnessed the transformation and as a god of equines he was also, he became a stallion. The horse Poseidon violated the mare Demeter who became pregnant and passed the time gave birth to two offspring: the horse Arion and a girl, known as Despena.
Horse Arion was wonderful and besides being the fastest thanks to his black hooves, he had the sea-colored manes, he was immortal and had the gift of the word . Arión and Despena were born in Arcadia, a region of Greece , and the king of the place, called Oncio, appropriated it. Heracles was the next owner of the horse Arion because when he passed through Arcadia he asked Oncio, who gave it to him so that he could conquer Élide. Arion was one of the horses that pulled the chariot of Heracles in battle. At the same time Heracles gave it to King Adrastos de Argos that he was saved by Arion, thanks to his extraordinary speed, when he lost the war against Thebes. All the heroes who participated in that war died except Argos since Arion picked him up and with a dizzying speed took him to the shores of Attica, where he left him safe.
