The state of Durango is located in the northeast of the country and is one of those that make up the United Mexican States.
The capital has the same name, which comes from the homonymous municipality located in the Basque Country.
As usual, this State has more traditional costumes than the one named. Among these is the one worn by Tepehuán, one of the most numerous indigenous communities.
It is especially used in Mezquital, a town 80 kilometers from the state capital.

1- Adelita
It is the most traditional costume of Durango and the whole country. There are slight variations depending on the area of the state in which it is worn and the time for which it is worn by women.
The women wear a flowered dress. Unlike what happens with other traditional clothes, the colors that adorn the suit are dark.
The skirt, of the same fabric, incorporates a white holan, exactly like the one placed on the front of the blouse.
In other celebrations the style of the suit changes completely. You can wear a wide skirt with bright colors on your holons. If this is chosen, the neck has to be high and carry a lace with lace to complete it.
The male suit is simpler. Both the pants and the shirt are blanket. The latter can be closed or buttoned and is completed with a tight girdle in red.
Finally, he wears a palm hat and huarache shoes.
2- Tepehuan costume
The traditional costume of the Tepehuán Indians is considered one of the most typical of the region.
Its origin dates back to pre-Hispanic times and is still used in celebrations and holidays.
The women of this ethnic group wear a two-piece suit: a skirt and a blouse. The skirt is wide and long, with two or three colors.
For its part, the blouse is very bright colors, almost phosphorescent, and is decorated with lace. It has a holán to the waist, is of high neck and has a buttoning in the back.
The accessories are also an important part of this traditional clothing. Women wear flashy necklaces and often wear combs on their heads. Finally, the shoes are somewhat more modern, since they are made with plastic.
Men wear a long-sleeved shirt, which is lightly adorned around the neck and cuffs.
It is a long and loose shirt, reaching almost to the knees. The pants reach almost to cover the feet and have the same ornaments as the shirt.
It is also common that this dress is completed with a handkerchief tied around the neck and with a hat, either round or soyate.
It happens that this hat is usually manufactured by themselves to adapt to your taste.
